A Child That's Given to Obey

A child that's given to obey
Will be forgiven in his way,
And with unselfish attitude
Allays concern, as wise men should.

For as the seed, after Its kind,
Brings forth the pattern whence it came,
In harmony and confidence,
Unfolds its gentle eloquence.

A year, now past, is but a dream,
But patterns set are what they seem,
And will continue In their force
Lest each has will to alter course.

But as for me, I must ascend
By line and precept to the end,
Eternal progress to apply
As God imparts, and as I try.
